REEFWALKER NEWS LETTER ~ OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2009

FISHING:

Due to the recreational fishing ban which is in place till the 15th of December 09 we have been forced to have a 2 month honeymoon, which is great but doesn't fill the kitty!
It's a good thing the government is protecting the fish stocks but maybe this should be done during the July /August months, when the fish are actually spawning, that's when they should be protected!

WHALE WATCHING:

October has been an amazing month for whale watching with the whales still coming through way into November. We had Kevin Marshall, the Wildlife Protection Officer stationed in Geraldton on board and he mentioned that between 19 000 and 25 000 whales have swum by our coastline this season. The great news is that the numbers are growing and hopefully we will be able to see more and more of them.

From seeing them gently cruising by to amazing breaches, closeup encounters to even touching them have left our customers in a state of euphoria. Just breathtaking!
People think we go whale watching but it’s the whales that are watching us !!

CRAY FISHING UPDATE:

On the 15th of November Crayfish season opened, we had a great first catch and partied with Crays for lunch! Our dear friends Mel and Dave from Byron Bay came along on the trip and they were stoked....the picture tells it all!
